This is how we use Loom & Rovo for modern competitive analyses - and even make them really exciting

Competitive analyses are part of every modern product strategy. But hand on heart: how often do these searches disappear in static documents, are only half-read - or are already out of date before anyone actually uses them?

As an Atlassian partner, we show how this challenge can be solved with two intelligent tools: Rovo, the new AI knowledge assistant from Atlassian, and Loom, the platform for asynchronous video communication. Together, they enable a new level of efficiency and collaboration - with more insights, fewer meetings and more fun in the team.

1. Why classic competitive analyses are no longer enough

In many companies, competitive analyses are still carried out in isolation - individual employees pore over websites, fill in tables, present their results in meetings... and in the end, little of it remains in the company's memory.

One thing is clear: those who not only observe but also understand the competition create real market opportunities. What is missing is a way of working that centralizes knowledge, makes it visual and keeps it usable across teams.

2. Rovo: The smart research partner in the background

Rovo is the new AI-supported knowledge assistant from Atlassian that connects to tools such as Confluence, Jira & Co. It can:

  • collate existing knowledge from all systems,
  • prepare relevant information on a competitor,
  • answer specific questions (e.g. "What makes us different from provider X?"),
  • automatically extract findings from documentation.

This saves time, reduces duplication and creates a sound basis for every analysis.

3. Loom: making knowledge visible and tangible

Loom makes it possible to record content as a screen video with commentary. So you can:

  • navigate through competitors' websites,
  • show UX details and features directly,
  • Add context, opinion and rating,
  • present analyses in such a way that they stick in the mind.
Your colleagues don't just see numbers - they experience your perspective. And at any time, at their own pace.

4. This is what the new workflow looks like in practice

Step 1: Research with Rovo.
Instead of starting from scratch, your team asks Rovo: "What do we know about provider Y?" - and receives a structured summary of existing data, paired with new findings from external sources.

Step 2: Analysis with Loom.
You record a Loom video in which you comment on your research, guide them through websites, point out strengths and weaknesses - including a personal assessment.

Step 3: Share & discuss.
The video is shared in Confluence or Slack. Your team can watch it asynchronously, ask questions and access the content again if required. This makes discussions more precise - and more valuable.

5. Conclusion: Understanding the competition without getting lost in the mass of data

The combination of Rovo and Loom creates a new form of competitive analysis:

Quick access to existing knowledge
Visual, context-rich preparation instead of static slides
Asynchronous collaboration without meeting overload
Reusable insights for new team members

The result: more clarity, better decisions - and a team culture that is enthusiastic about insights.
